 Jimmy, Johnny, Charlie, Martin are the names that are sung in the songs that make up this piece. They include Mozart canons and traditional drinking songs that give off a slightly "naughtical" vibe. I tried to imagine ways that people working on a ship might entertain themselves for the long duration of the voyage. I imagine there would be storytelling and and a high level of comedy perhaps making fun of one's boss without them knowing. These themes helped me create the look and pacing of this work, but the true star of the piece are the barrels. Originally I had simply just wanted some set dressing for the upstage area, but quickly realized that the barrels were dancers unto themselves. I truly hope you enjoy, I had a blast creating this piece.
